Meet Hester

The person behind Pawnderings

Hi there,

In memory of my beloved Rottweiler, Uzo, who passed away in June 2023, I care for pets and draw inspiration from every paws-on-the-ground kind of day.

Powered by tea, mud, and dogs

Just before writing this, I was knee-deep in mud on a farm in East Sussex — shovelling horse manure, rescuing chickens, caring for two slightly chaotic cats, and playing football with an overexcited Border Collie.

That probably sums me up rather well:

Animals first. Everything else negotiable.

Dogs have always been my greatest teachers. Clever, sensitive, chaotic, funny — and entirely themselves.

If you pay attention, they have a habit of showing us things we might otherwise miss.

I watch dogs. I notice the small things. And I turn those moments into stories — not theories, just real-life observations that make you laugh, pause, and occasionally recognise yourself.

The storytelling bit

I write Pawnderings — cheeky, heartfelt stories inspired by life with dogs and the humans lucky enough to live alongside them. The kind that make you laugh, think, and perhaps look at your own dog (or yourself) a little differently.

The speaking bit

I speak about what dogs quietly reveal about presence, connection, and how we show up in the world. Through The Keynote, I use stories, humour and everyday observations to create moments that make people think, smile, and see familiar things in a new way.

At the heart of it all

My work is simple: I notice what’s already there, and help bring it to life — through stories, conversations and ideas that make people smile.
